Cylinders used for the transportation of industrial gases by road or rail in the UK are governed by regulation which requires these cylinders to be subject to periodic inspection and testing. The period of test is governed by the DfT and, without exception, cylinders must be tested at least every 10 years. The specific intervals between inspections can be found in Annex B of the relevant BSI standards or in ADR table P200. Although cylinders may be transported after their test is due this may only be for the purpose of sending the cylinder for testing.
